For the more adventurous

There are
many opportunities to enjoy peaceful walking amidst beautiful
scenery. The Southern Upland Way passes the end of the road and
there are also many challenging walks in the surrounding hills.
For the less ambitious
There are plenty of shorter
walks around
Sanquhar. The Southern
Upland Way is Britain's first official coast-to-coast
footpath, between Portpatrick in the west and Cockburnspath
in the east. 212 miles in length, it offers excellent varied
walking
and
provides a testing challenge for the experienced walker.

Sanquhar
railway station means that the town is an ideal stopping
or starting
point for walkers wanting to do part of the route. |
